Littleton has an older core around Main Street and a long spread of newer neighborhoods to the south. Near downtown, roofs are steeper and often have chimneys, skylights and dormers that need careful flashing work. Farther south, many homes from the 1970s and 1980s are on their second or third roof, and some still have the original decking under it.
A few neighborhoods were built with wood shake roofs, and some of those remain. Shakes look good but dry out and split in the sun at this altitude, and they are hard to insure in some cases. If you are replacing one, check with your HOA, if you have one, about which materials are allowed.
